February 29, 2020 - UWS Leap year dinner (@ CdW and KvdK): Beautiful and mature bouquet with red and dark berries, licorice, chocolate and herbs and spices. Same on the palate. Good acidity and a touch of sweetness. Beautiful and mature wine.

November 17, 2019 - Almost 8 years since I last had this wine. Pnp. Bottle from cold cellar, bottom neck fill. Nice, fairly dark garnet in the glass, not showing much age. On the nose some barnyard, wood spices and then a fair bit of coffee. Palate with dark fruit, earth and again coffee. Medium tannins are quite present. The coffee also lingers on the finish.
Interesting reading my notes from 2011 and 2012, whereas it was cedar back then, it is the coffee from the toasted new barrels now. The tannins are more pronounced now then they were back then due to the somewhat receding fruit. Clearly too much new oak and barrel toast for the fruit back then I think. 89-90

September 24, 2019 - Clear. Medium garnet in color with a bit of deposit.
Clean nose of pronounced intensity. Mostly secondary and tertiary. Notes of blackcurrant, bramble, green bell pepper, cedar, ashtray, forest floor mushroom, tobacco, wet leaves, coagulated blood, rusted iron nails... yes, it's complex and fully developed.
Dry on the palate, medium body, medium acidity, tannins are fully resolved and the texture is silky smooth. Alcohol is medium, and the flavor intensity is pronounced. There are notes of blackberry fruit and some welcomed sweetness perceived on the midpalate. The finish is long.
This is an elegant, classy bottle of wine that has aged beautifully and is currently at what I consider mature peak. It's time to pop ladies and gents. Cheers!

July 8, 2019 - very complex and subtle nose, classic aromas of matured bordeaux + a touch of eucalyptus that I usually find in some aussie wines. Very light on his feet, this wine is more about elegance rather than power. I think the wine is in a good spot right now and I do not expect that a longer cellaring would greatly benefit the wine.

January 13, 2019 - A Survey of Pessac-Léognan (Skokie, IL): Served double blind. The colour here would indicate that there’s a bit of age on this, with some heavier oak-inflected elements: coffee and spice, more than earth and graphite. There’s definitely a bit of a modernist take here, with the riper fruit and some more bitter oak tannins on the back end. In fact, the oak leads to some fairly unpleasant sensations the longer it lingers in the mouth. My 8th, group's 9th.
