August 11, 2023 - A wine of such simplicity yet so delicious: lacy textured, smoky, limestone mineralite, sous bois, citrus and gentle red fruits, subtle spice thread, a life that seems alive. Delicious! Last bottle of a case purchased on release, wish I’d kept them all till now.

July 1, 2023 - My third bottle out of six. No decant. After some time in the glass and especially at the sixth day more developed than last time. Nice fruit, good acidity and with mature notes starting to present themselves, with the stems contributing to the taste. Beginning to show its quality. Unlike I noticed earlier, this wine is still developing well and I assume it will continue with that. For now 90-91, potentially 91+.

    March 19, 2023 - Vibrant medium cerise.
On opening a nose of rubber tyre and bicycle grease which evolved with half an hours air to a feminine, red fruited, spicy wine, which following 2 hours developed a complex florals and a savoury nuance: star anise, black cardamom, concentrated beef reduction.
The palate youthful, pristine, almost virginal forest floor, but consistently a mineral-acid wine of great complexity with a flinty, limestone mineralite. Delicious! Sadly my second to last bottle of a case, this has been consistently approachable and delicious… maybe I should’ve gotten two cases?

February 6, 2022 - I was surprised at how grumpy this was, even with a few hours of air. I had fairly high expectations, after really enjoying a couple of 2009s last year, John Gilman's v.positive review & suggested drink dates from 2020 (I find he generally suggesting leaving wines for longer than pretty much anyone else). Opening the bottle and leaving it to warm up a little, the lovely aroma of pinot fruit that really wafted from the bottle only served to confirm my hopes. However, the wine tasted thin, tart and somewhat disjointed with an awkward note that tasted almost like unintegrated oak, but knowing a bit about Chandon dB, I think was more likely due to the inclusion of stems. A few hours of air did little to ameliorate things, so I re-corked and left the remaining half bottle to the next day... The next evening the award stemmy note had receded and the wine had rounded out. I think this will come good, but I won't open another bottle for another couple of years or more. (edit: I note that Forceberry & Pancreatitis both CT users who's opinions I respect & who's reviews I value have given this wine very positive write-ups & think it is drinking well...this makes me think I may have had an unrepresentative bottle, or caught this particular bottle in a difficult spot ?)

January 31, 2022 - Color: quite light ruby with an orange rim. Fruit, toast and sous bois in the nose. Nice, sweet fruit in the taste, as well as a rather typical note that was hard to define. Quite soft., despite a bit of drying tannins that were still present, but clearly more developped than my last bottle of this wine in January 2020. Because of the tannins I would like to wait with the next bottle for one or two years, but because of the orange rim I guess it will be best to drink it earlier. Nice wine with an own character. 89-90.
