    January 14, 2021 - Amazing!

January 17, 2020 - Cold winter storm night. Looking for a bigger red to snuggle into the couch and this fit the bill. 15.3 ABV on the label and it never came across as a cocktail wine; big and expressive but not extracted. Black cherry, blackberry some anise, pepper and a hint of vanilla. Decent acids up front with fine tannins on the finish but this really about the fruit. Perfect for what we were looking for on a cold winters night.

December 21, 2019 - Drank over 4 hours. Classy nose, BlackBerry liquor, with a bit of heat. Big, full throttle zin here, packing sweet black fruit, licorice, glossy, almost syrupy body (high alcohol + possible RS), and less than ideal acid. Good layering of minerals, earth, and white pepper, and shows complexity over time but also increased prominence of the sweetness and heat. A bit over the top for me (as compared to the ‘15 Papera, which was a stunner) and to me drinks a bit like a cocktail wine, but YMMV. (87 day 1)

Day 2: a lot of the sweet fruit and gloss has receded, leaving a more transparent taste of the Monte Rosso terroir - a firm core of high toned, savory red fruit, chalky minerals, and again a whiff of anise. 91.

November 10, 2019 - Prunes and over-the-hill coarseness on opening. After an hour or so, the rest of the wine woke up like a resurrection, with tasty blackberry, dried cherry, cocoa, and hints of mom's pantry spices. Powerful and earthy, the finish got suppler and more appealing with air.

September 29, 2019 - Superb juice. Ready now, but drink over two days. Second day makes this an unforgettable experience! Dense and mouth filling. Deep ruby color. Fine grained tannins. Intense black fruits - black cherry, blackberry - with earth, pepper, and vanilla. Has a nice medium finish too. This is some good stuff! Bravo Carlisle!
