May 8, 2021 - Terrific wine.. Unfortunately the last of this that has been in my cellar for 6y. Wonderful strawberry notes and balance. Airy and feminine. Incredible value.
March 7, 2021 - The wine looks garnet colored. The legs are slow. There is light sediment in the bottle. It smells like mushroom, forest floor, cedar, red currant and blackberry. It tastes like strawberry jam and cedar. The body is medium/full. The wine has leathery texture. The wine finishes long. The wine has medium acidity.
February 3, 2021 - Great wine. quick decant and drink. Was still too cold when we first started but as it warmed up everybody liked it.
August 16, 2020 - excellent wine, complex and full bodied. Ate with barbeque and spicy Brussel sprouts.
October 27, 2019 - One hour decant. Has a medium garnet-brick red in colour. Nose of earthy plums and red cherries with some garrigue and a hint of wet tobacco leaf. On the palate, there are some peppery red currants and plums with some secondary notes of licorice and tobacco as well. Medium+ bodied with a medium finish. Seems to be in its ideal drinking window now. Last tasted May 2016.
August 11, 2019 - Third bottle of four (all consumed in 2019). The 2012 Southern Rhone's have been an enigma for me, and this wine reflects that prior experience. On the nose there is alcohol, leather, smoke, black currant, and pepper notes. On the palate, the acidity rushes in quickly and fades into a mineral and pepper accented mid-palate turning toward the finish with sour plum, incense, and currant. Reasonable concentration of the savory notes, but there is an aftertaste of the sour plum that leaves me wanting to rinse my palate with water. Somewhat disjointed. I don't see this improving from here, and my experience with all bottles are reflected in this note (87-88).
September 8, 2018 - Stole the show at the block party. Decanted overnight for the party but there was very little sediment. This is a beautifully balanced spicy, red-fruited wine.
September 29, 2017 - Elegant, mineralic, feminine, earthy, airy, peppery,. Splendid.
July 13, 2017 - Clear ruby in the glass, medium-bodied, well-rounded and soft. While definitely bright from the 80% grenache in the blend, there is a bit of heft here from the 20% mourvedre that completes the picture. Drinking exceptionally well, with classic but not overpowering kirsch, licorice and herb tones. Will seek out more, as well as different offerings from this producer.
June 23, 2017 - Ok but not attention getting. A touch on the dry side.
