May 17, 2023 - solid CDP, but a bit disappointing showing. wonderful aromatics but the palate was a bit muddled. it loosened up with some air. plenty of dark fruit

April 20, 2023 - From the moment the Pegau cork cleared the mouth of the bottle, the wine delighted. It immediately perfumed the area and the small sip I took was incredible …. But I decanted it nonetheless. A bit bricked on the rim, but as the wine opened, the core was deep crimson. The nose exploded with tobo, cinnamon, smoked meats, lavender, crushed red fruits, and a bit of garrigue. The wine was seamless from nose to palate and once on the palate, was seamless from attack to the oh-so-long finish with a medium leaning full-bodied mouthfeel.

The St. Cosme …. Not so much. The color was fine but the nose and palate were tight but they never unwrapped their secrets from first sip to last. Something herbal presented itself, but nothing more.

Some sediment, but surprisingly little. 14% alc. With grilled stuffed quail and the company of Bill Barker and Pat and Charlie Chadwick. 04.20.23. Pegau - Recommended, but leaning toward Highly Recommended. No Recommendation made on the St. Cosme.

April 24, 2022 - Classic Chateauneuf-du-Pape in every way. A deep ruddy red in the glass. Smokey nose of cigar smoke, cigar leaf, smoked herbs, lavender, leather, and iodine. A very complete wine. Very few grains of very fine sediment. 14.5% alc. Not really with any food, although there were some brats and other sausages, while watching ‘dega (Chastain won). 04.24.22. Recommended, leaning to Highly Recommended.
