July 24, 2013 - Well made wine w plenty of dark fruit, pepper, and heat. Doesn't taste old to me, but I'm sure the fruit was more vibrant earlier in its life.

April 27, 2012 - Was a little nutty to start, but settled in nicely with black licorice and concentrated dark fruit. You can tell it's high octane without looking at the percentage, which is 15.7, if you're scoring at home.

February 29, 2012 - Very nice. Youthful with some spice and energy but refined and sophisticated. Alcohol didn't overwhelm which is always a concern of mine with Turley. Drank along side the 2008 Turley Zinfandel Tofanelli Vineyard. Grist had more character and seemed younger. The Tofanelli was softer and syrah-like.

October 25, 2011 - Nice rustic qualities that drank well with the food. Slight hint of bricked strawberries, otherwise a typical zin.

April 29, 2011 - This was a great wine. After 2 really nice cabs, pulled this out of the cellar. Classic zin. Multi-fruit & berries with spice. Nothing over-powering. Smooth yet powerful. Glad I had it in my cellar. Wow!!

March 19, 2010 - Wonderful nose of fresh berries, with a little earth in the backdrop. The taste, however, was not as fresh with a little heat (although served at about 57 degrees). Still, the jam, pepper, and light spice were superior to most of the other zinfandels on the market and went well with a cognac and pepper laced filet mignon.

December 5, 2009 - I do not know what the previous reviewers were drinking, but it ws not the same as I tasted. The aroma was typical Turley Zin. What a massive zin! Plums, raspberries, spice and pepper with a very long finish add up to a fantastic zinfandel. Zin does not get much better than this.

September 3, 2009 - EARTHY NOSE WITH DEEP BERRY FRUITS, LEATHER AND LICORICE. FLAVOR LIKE THE NOSE WITH DEEP RICH FRUIT. MEDIUM TO LONG FINISH.

December 21, 2008 - Maybe this is just a style thing, but i didn't think this could hold a candle to recent Valdez, Mozzacco, or Seghesio zines. Briary and seemed the acids were a lttle off. Reminded me more of a syrah than a zin.
