    November 26, 2019 - Menthol and light red cherry at first, clearly needs time to open up. After about 40 minutes and a side of salty Provolone-type cheese, this wine began to spread out. The initial ascetic quality gives way to a richer yet restrained cherry festival in your mouth. There are a few different types of cherries mixing together here, and it's fun. But then things get even better: black currants, red currants, red plums, and more tannins suddenly emerge after about 90 minutes. And there's still this persistent, secondary essence of earth and smoke. This is a really enjoyable wine to sip over time and experience the evolution.

    September 2, 2019 - Decanted an hour. Deep ruby, slight hint of brick. Nose of plum, leather, spice, wildflower. Structured black plum, raw and cooked, on the palate. Medium finish, balanced tannins, with an appealing perfume note. I'd argue the Antinori name bumps the price up a few bucks past where it deserves to be, but it's quite good any which way.

    July 20, 2019 - Decanted for 7 hours. Colour tending toward crimson/maroon. Still very flavoursome and pleasant on the nose. A mix of tobacco, leather and menthol flavours in the back of the mouth.
    Felt the wine could be aged for a few more years yet however the flavours on the back pallette didn't last long (certainly not as long as 04 Banfi Brunello I tasted a few months back), so this wine is probably at its best.

    May 26, 2018 - On the nose this was all black fruits and earthy goodness. Nice an open on the palate with dark fruits and lots of loamy earth, a touch of tar and dusty tannins. Very nice.

    January 1, 2018 - 12 Days of Christmas; 12/21/2017-1/1/2018 (NYC, Vermont, Boston): This bottle failed to wow me as it seemed shut down both aromatically and on the palate. I suspect that it might have been lightly corked - no cardboard smell perse, but just not really showing much.

    September 18, 2017 - Very dark and concentrated. Slightly overripe on the palate with some raisiny notes. I don't think this will improve with time so enjoy it now for what it is.

    March 19, 2017 - Second Sunday Group: Montalcino (Leon's): Double blind. Along with wine "C" the darkest in this flight, also displaying a subtle earthy component in the bouquet. Dark fruit in abundance here, in the bouquet and on the palate, where tannins are firm and chewy. Nicely balanced overall though- plenty of fruit for the tannin and structure and the acidity is not too high either. Medium+ finish. 91+ pts.
