June 23, 2019 - Gorgeous, not seriously complex but very pure and with great depth. Beautifully aromatic fruit, not quite exploding from the glass but definitely not shy, and leaning slightly towards dark- think black cherry cola, plum and blue/blackberry, but not veering into super dark cassis territory. The vanilla/cinnamon oak is beautifully integrated, and the palate is both rich and refreshing. Only the smallest hints of earthy or floral tones, but the low alcohol really allowed the scents and flavors of the fruit and oak to shine without effort. To me it was an "archetypal" Pinot, not necessarily standing out in any particular way, but excelling intensely in magical varietal character and a truly great example of the grape. As a little bonus, it acted as an eye-opening wine for two friends who had been burnt out on either overbearing or unapproachable reds.

It's definitely different from the few Rhys labels I've had- it's very friendly and gentle, even if it is intense, while the Rhys Pinot cuvées are often highly savory, smoky, and subdued, requiring much longer aging. This might be a better QPR, unless you have a good cellar and a lot of patience.

June 4, 2019 - Opaque ruby hue that opens with rose and potpourri aromas. Raspberry and plum flavors dominate on the front palate. Medium density with a great balance of acidity to fruit and a lingering note of close cinnamon on the finish. Paired wonderfully with grilled salmon.

March 27, 2019 - Have had several really good bottles. This wasn't one of them. Very muted nose and flavor. did not improve with time. Off balance as well. Not corked or brett, but clearly off.
Not scored, but poured down the drain.

March 31, 2018 - Enjoyed this a lot. Relatively big, but not overwhelming and has some nice tannins to back it up.
