December 15, 2016 - Mörk och tät, ingen fällning

Kryddig och pepprig, aceton och lite spritade körsbär, en viss sötma i doften

Kryddig, lite syrlig i munnen, även en viss alkoholhetta i munnen, medium längd. Saknar lite komplexitet

September 5, 2015 - Light colored for a Syrah. Fruity nose. Round well balanced mouthfeel. The rest a bit generic. Does not stand out in any way. Overpriced ($35). Will not buy again.

July 21, 2015 - Very impressed with Barrel 27 wine, outstanding QPR. This is more of an entry level Syrah for them (paid $17.99) and is 93% Syrah and suprisingly 7% Viognier, a white Rhone wine. The combination is fantastic, inky Syrah color, the Viognier is hardly noticeable, but tones down the sometimes rough edges of the Syrah. The result is a robust, but slightly silky and supple wine with a lot of depth and character, complex, spicy, not unlike a great Rhone red. It stood up to the grilled burger easlily. I read somewhere - I think?that Cote' Rotie wines in Rhone are known to add a little Viognier.
This is drinking perfectly now, but we did let it breathe briefly and did decant it (nearly all wines will benefit from decanting).
