April 2, 2023 - I found a 2012 year old Ramey Claret in my cellar, opened it, and an outstanding Claret; Cabernet - 70% Merlot, 24% Malbec, 2%, Cabernet Franc 1%, and Petit Verdot 1%, quite a fine wine. Glad to have three more to share. Well done Mr Ramey.

September 5, 2022 - Consistent with most of the other notes: a nicely made bottle from a terrific producer that is definitely peaking. Color is a medium red purple, with some crimson starting to appear on the rim. Nose is beginning to show all secondary with notes of cedar, clove spice and just a touch of leather, all very pleasant. The fruit is very straightforward at this point, even a touch simple with a beam of cherry and ripe plum dominating the palate. Tannins have been sanded down mostly, though some still hanging around to give the wine a bit of structure. Enjoyable but will fade fairly soon, so good drinking window at present.

July 5, 2019 - Drinking really well. Still lots of ripe fruit. It hasn’t lost anything in 4 years just gotten better.

June 30, 2019 - I went in with low expectations for this wine and came away pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it. This is a medium bodied wine with a good bouquet of red and black fruits, cedar, leather and baking spices. On the palate it had a nice texture, dusty tannins and a long smooth finish. It showed nice black cherry, baking spices, oak and some green stem. It was well balanced with pleasant acidity (not overbearing) and a good backbone of tannin. This is a dry wine and paired well with a New York strip steak.
