November 15, 2019 - The fill was into the neck and the cork was sound; drank with dinner and over the next two hours. Notes of jammy dark fruits, hints of tar and tapenade, with a touch of sur maturite, which carried over to the palate. Good concentration, but lacking in texture, depth and precision. I’ve had better bottles, but this seems to be quite variable. I won’t be purchasing more.

November 10, 2019 - Left Bank Bordeaux from Saint Julien. The first of my recent 42 bottle delivery and from a good 2003 vintage. 62% CS, 28% Merlot, 8% PV, and 2% CF. Nose was spectacular. The best words for this wine being elegance, finese, velvety tannins, balanced, layers, and great length of finish. Leather, cassis, cedar earthy, cigar, and forest floor on the palate. Wonderful wine that could pair with almost anything.

October 28, 2019 - spectacular showing. Complex and lively nose, on fresh red fruits, spices and gentle touch of noble wood. tanins are rich and smooth; the texture is velvety. No hurry, but very good and sexy now.

(CHAT LEOVILLE POYFERRE) #1; COLOR-dark; NOSE-classic bell pepper, V8 juice, black cassis, black currant, musty (like an attic); TASTE-incredibly silky on the attack through the finish, this is a polished Old World wine w/ beautiful extracted New World fruit (hot 2003 vintage), perfect balance & harmony, extremely good, black currant & cassis, red cherries, beautiful raspberries, secondary layers of smoked tobacco, really ripe candied flavors on the finish, smooth as a wine gets, this is Ultimate Bordeaux; RP-98; GV-97+

(Château Léoville Poyferré) Very reticent, faint berry nose; complex on palate, concentrated, berry, cassis, vanilla palate; long finish

(Chateau Léoville-Poyferré St Julien) Dark, exotic fruit nose. Damsons, with a hint of blackcurrant. Ripe, balanced, seamless structure. It has a gentle elegance, with creamy fruit and a peppery edge. Really gentle, fine tannins and correct acidity. This is very good indeed. Certainly the equal of Léoville Barton, if not slightly ahead.
