July 4, 2019 - My experience was on the positive side of the ones noted below. Tried along side a Vieux Chateau Certain 2000 and this was the more pleasurable. Dark robe, lovely hints of cedar etc on the nose and there was a generous bouquet ( Decanted for 1 hr), the mouth was rich and full as you'd expect from the vintage but with plenty of refinement and length. I agree this will last

June 29, 2019 - Needed an hour or two of air - time added the weight and brought the balance needed. Drinking well now - not going to be holding the bottles I have much longer. Will consume over the next year max. Previous bottles were similar in profile but had more to offer. Still, good bottle, from a rough vintage.

June 27, 2019 - Had it next to 2000 and the difference is enourmous. The 2003 is clumsy and not so detailed on the nose. Not as long either on the finish. A study of a classic year compared to a warm year!

June 26, 2019 - Drank straight out of the bottle. Younger on the nose than the palate but I sense this wine still has some years left in it. Saint Julien at its best - a restrained and elegant wine. Very enjoyable right now.

June 15, 2019 - Tobacco and leather along with black berries, a well balanced Bordeaux who does no show the heat of the vintage, dense and long, a noble St. Julien. Really good now, but can go on for long years.

(CHAT LEOVILLE POYFERRE) #1; COLOR-dark; NOSE-classic bell pepper, V8 juice, black cassis, black currant, musty (like an attic); TASTE-incredibly silky on the attack through the finish, this is a polished Old World wine w/ beautiful extracted New World fruit (hot 2003 vintage), perfect balance & harmony, extremely good, black currant & cassis, red cherries, beautiful raspberries, secondary layers of smoked tobacco, really ripe candied flavors on the finish, smooth as a wine gets, this is Ultimate Bordeaux; RP-98; GV-97+

(Château Léoville Poyferré) Very reticent, faint berry nose; complex on palate, concentrated, berry, cassis, vanilla palate; long finish

(Chateau Léoville-Poyferré St Julien) Dark, exotic fruit nose. Damsons, with a hint of blackcurrant. Ripe, balanced, seamless structure. It has a gentle elegance, with creamy fruit and a peppery edge. Really gentle, fine tannins and correct acidity. This is very good indeed. Certainly the equal of Léoville Barton, if not slightly ahead.
