January 16, 2024 - Took an hour for some oddments to escape. Now very nice. Medium heft, not as dense as I expected. Some tannin left, just enough for me. Key quality for me is a refreshing acidity that brings out the other notes. Great with food.

    -dark red purple

-med acidity, med weight focused faint dark berry mature notes saline bitter soil, med/med+ tannins
-starting to show some maturity but also needs more time to resolve the tannins

August 9, 2022 - 92+. Opened up significantly two hours after a double decant (for some sandy sediment). Wine seemed to evolve every 30 minutes. Soft but complex nose of purple fruits, black pepper, black olive, potpourri spice. 13% alc Medium bodied. Polished texture with slightly fuzziness. Elegant tannic red and red purple fruits, dried lavender, plum skin, with slightly tangy seamless acidity and fine, very drying, tannin. Great tension between tannin, acid and red/purple fruit - reminded me of the 2012 Jamet. Long finish. May be still too tannic for some, but I enjoyed the tension for the wine today.

July 15, 2022 - Syrah & Beef Ribs $60+ Blind Tasting (Bin 75 Alpharetta, GA): Dark core with larger crimson brick rim; white pepper, stems, truffle funk and loads of character but not the depth of a special wine; called 2011 Levet Journaries.

February 27, 2022 - Someone else posted on this wine the other day, and as I had one standing up ready to go I took it as a sign. It’s not mature, but it it beautifully integrated. There’s still a wild edge to it, but it doesn’t stick out from the weave. The tannins are fully bonded to the fruit, and the savory notes add further buffering against the acid and tannin structure. It’s quite remarkable how seamless this is at not much more than 10 years old. Balance, balance, balance. This is the target that so many low alcohol/high acid California Syrahs are shooting for, and so often miss badly in the attempt.
