December 22, 2022 - these wines seem to drink well regardless of age.
January 26, 2022 - Tasted after 1 hour of air. Medium ruby color. Crunchy red berry fruit. Plenty of lift on mid palate. Very nice.
January 18, 2019 - Bright and spicy, some cola, dark color (for pinot), very representative of the Russian River style. Plenty of life left.
January 15, 2019 - A lovely wine. Medium red, medium body. A drier dusty nose yields to tart cherry a bit of raspberry, some lighter spice and long finish.
January 31, 2018 - Dark red with a nose of cherry and spice. The palate was predominantly ripe cherry and spice. While the fruit screamed new world, the winemaking seemed old world. Good acid and a lovely mouthfeel Drink any time over the next 5 years and you should be well rewarded,
April 16, 2017 - Some reduction on opening, glad I opened this early as it blew off. Spice and black fruit on the nose and palate. Bright. Chalky slight bitter tannins. Aspartame finish from stem inclusion?
March 11, 2017 - Smokey with notes of plum. Good structure. Fruit fall a bit short. Otherwise it is doing very well after 5 years.
November 21, 2016 - Dark red and perfumed. Hits the nose with spice, cherry and for lack of better term, chalk. Kind of like getting a whiff of paster dust when you are sanding drywall. Mouth is alive with sweet cherry fruit. Full and tart with a juicy quality and tart edge that pulls through the finish. Man this really explodes with flavor the more I swish it in my mouth. The finish sports some chalky tannin but very astutely. This is the second bottle of Ladd Pinot I have opened from my Berserker Day purchase back in January. Based on this bottle I'm getting in line when Eric puts his BerserkerDay VIII offer out. Well done!
October 3, 2016 - Clear translucent garnet color. Wonderful nose of fruit and spice with a barest touch of oak. Medium body and a complex palette of cherries and spice with perfect balancing acidity. Long and very enjoyable finish. This is a traditionally styled wine bursting with flavor, and it is in a really great place right now.
September 26, 2016 - Hmm.... Something not right here as I've had the wine before and enjoyed it. Came across as stewed and raisin flavored which is quite unusual for the vintage. Oh well, it happens.
