October 1, 2019 - Very dark and glossy. Rich, plummy mid-palate then finishing firm. Really interesting. Pleasant now but years ahead.

September 5, 2019 - Needed a lot of time to open up - to start with even with 2 hrs to breathe in bottle was akin to supermarket jammy-wine. 2 more hrs in glass allowed it to open a little show that there was a bit more to it than that, but am hoping it will be better on day 2.

July 25, 2019 - {screwcap, 14.5%} Grim stuff. Dark inky black colour. Big nose of raisins, vanilla, oak chippy notes. Raw and brutal rather then rustic. The palate is harsh, with extracted black flavours, no charm, no seduction. It,s medium/full-bodied, although that’s due to the alcohol and extract, it has harsh medium gritty tannins, a short, dry, hot finish of patchy and porty character. Goodness. This is what the once—mighty Bin 28 has come too. A basic commercial FMCG offering. As Trump would say, sad.

May 26, 2019 - Museum release from a well known Aussie retailer. Pretty rough wine for me. You get heft, you get weight but you don't get much charm. Rich blue berry fruits, strong oak input, some heat and a certain dustiness. There is a rawness, a feeling of a lack of polish that is surprising for a Penfolds wine, especially one for the 2012 vintage. Not sure this is going to improve much more (if any).

February 25, 2019 - Super ripe black fruit. Plum, cherry liqueur and liquorice. There is a sweetness to the fruit that makes me wonder if there is any RS here. Plenty of flavour and it is balanced but it feels a bit too slick and over worked. It lacks charm.

December 15, 2018 - A little green for a Shiraz but still was a good food wine. I may wait a couple of years for the next one to see how it evolves.
