September 3, 2020 - A fine example of higher-end Napa. Lots of purple and black fruit. Really opened up after ~5 hours of decanted and it really needed food with it (paired perfectly with steak). Texturally, this was really enjoyable and I think it has the potential to age several more years. If you're a fan of the more-is-more style of Napa cab, while still craving a wine that shows some classic Napa character, this should suit you well.

April 8, 2020 - Decanted for 2-hours. Drinking spectacularly well right now.

September 22, 2015 - Earthy, smoky, black cherry nose, paired with one of the few wines made from young, approachable mountain fruit that finishes with fresh, blackberries, licorice and cassis.

June 25, 2014 - Decanted for one hour. Sampled before decanting and the tannins were big but not overpowering with lots of earthy notes, dark fruit and coffee notes. After one hour the tannins softened and it brightened on the palate with more expressive fruit. This cab really benefits from air and it probably should have been decanted even longer. My understanding is that this wine contains both Howell Mtn and Napa Valley grapes but, in my humble opinion, this is all Howell. This can lay down for several years but is approachable now with patience. Just keeps getting better and better. Another really nice Phillipe Melka wine!

April 13, 2014 - Quintessential Napa. Ready to go now, but should be rocking in a few years. Big, smooth, luscious. Love it.
