September 30, 2023 - Full of fruit and with complex teriary characteristics of leather and chocolate. Long finish. Great wine and this has many years left. Not yet at its peak in my opinion. 4 hr decant.

March 20, 2022 - Great wine. A very classic example of what merlot can be like when done well. Price is a little high, but an elegant wines to can stand up to other merlots in this price point.

January 28, 2018 - From probably the most difficult vintage in the past 20 years, La Stella was able to create a lovely wine; definitely not at the usual level for Maestoso, but still excellent. Offers the classic Maestoso nose of strawberry pie with a good tannic structure, fine texture and a medium+ finish. A bit expensive in this challenging vintage.

December 18, 2017 - Truly the only thing holding this wine back is its price. Its a $50 wine in a $100 bottle. Opened two bottles at a blind tasting of premium Merlots and this wine took a back seat to a $30 Van Westen Voluptuous. All the elements are here - enticing aromatics of blue and black fruit secondaries, good balance of acidity and fine-grain tannins, a medium-plus finish. Just not at the QPR I want for $100...
