March 4, 2018 - No formal note, a solid effort for this style of wine, always had a soft spot for Perticaia.

December 12, 2015 - Very impressive, polished and complete. A pleasant surprise as this is just the rosso, so often a poor relation. Many estates would be happy to have this as their flagship wine - full bodied and youthful, with black fruits mingling with red. Aged in stainless steel so it's fruit all the way, but this isn't just a juicy quaffer. Great balance and lovely persistence; a super food wine with smooth tannins and well integrated acidity. Need to look for more...

September 4, 2015 - Clear, translucent black cherry color. Rich, brooding nose with sweet, dark-toned fruit, sweet cherry, dark-skinned berries, tobacco, violets, raspberries, some sweet smokiness, a little pruney fruit and a touch of smoky earth. Tightly wound and acid-driven palate with pronounced, chewy tannins. Flavors of sour cherries, dark berries, juicy prunes, pronounced spice and bitter herbs, some smoke and a touch of sweet cherry marmalade. Really impressive structure without signs of overextraction. Quite long, tannic and slightly warm finish with flavors of sour cherry, sweet cranberry marmalade, peppery spice, some dusty earth and a hint of chocolate nuances, suggesting oak influence - even though the producer says this wine does not see oak.

A wonderful, intenese, structured and surpriisingly complex Montefalco Rosso. Very honest and unforgiving habitus with good potential for mid-to-long-term cellaring. In its current state it is a wonderful food wine for rich dishes, but a little too hard to be enjoyed on its own. Shows a lot of classic Italian characteristics, served in a decently priced (14,90€) package; a lot better than most of the Tuscan reds in the same price category. Recommended.

June 24, 2015 - Aromatic nose of ripe red and dark fruit, earth and spicy oak. Light to medium bodied with smooth tannins, delivering an array of flavors likewise the bouquet. Ripe and dried fruit, sous bois and some oak with a nice and lean dusty bite on the finish. A bit light and short but shows great balance. A beautiful quaffer.

October 14, 2014 - Stinky and smokey with rasinated fruit and a good amount of tannins. If you like the style, it works at $16.
