September 24, 2019 - Double decanted and consumed after a wait of 2 hours. This is a big wine that shows very little evolution, maroon color with no sign of age. Blackfruited nose, with some wood elements. Very tasty palate, smooth and large without being cloying although somewhat one dimensional. Holding up well, and not as big as a modern Schrader wine, I'd still recommend drinking soon.

December 24, 2018 - Significant sediment in last 2 oz, consider standing up next bottle for more than a few hours. Deep ruby-purple with age-appropriate bricking; medium-plus intensity, fully mature and integrated black fruit; palate is full bodied, integrated tannins, medium acidity, balanced alcohol, fully mature and integrated black fruit; medium length finish. Initially this shows excellent balance and an elegance, but lacks a bit of intensity of fruit and limited to no secondary character. 92
With 45 minutes air: This now shows more intensity of blackberry and blackcurrant on the nose, clearer dill/herbal component; palate shows a bit more intensity as well with more blackberry, still well balanced. Much better with a bit of air than when first opened, now 95. Certainly at maturity and ready to drink, and I don't think this will develop that savory complexity that you can get from aged bordeaux. Drink my remaining bottles over the next few years.
2 hours: No significant change from 45 minutes. Enjoyable Christmas Eve wine with the family.

December 11, 2018 - Acker BYO 2018 (Tribeca Grille): We brought this to the same event a few years ago and it showed well so brought it back. This was drinking just awesomely. Pnp'ed and then since we were limited on decanters just poured from the bottle. This has more of the secondary and tertiary notes going, but then still the wonderful fruit that you get from new world wines. Darker in nature. More spicy. I really enjoyed it.

June 2, 2018 - Annual gathering with Chicago winos in Chicago - Burgs, old Bordeauxs, Cult Cabs and SQN (Smyth and The Loyalist - Chicago IL): Beautiful rich red fruit driven nose, noticeable dill and coconut, caramel, sweet spices and earth. Excellent concentration, layers upon layers of hedonistic red fruit, silky and polished, perfect amount of acidity and mineral and a long intense sweet red fruit driven finish. Dill and coconut notes are very pronounced. My guess is Colgin.

June 2, 2018 - Wine Dinner Extravaganza (Smyth and The Loyalist - Chicago IL): Single blind. Rich candied cherry with an interesting assortment of herbs and spices including some telltale dill. Still nicely fresh for its age but the heat shows through on finish. Very good weight and length. Others liked this more than I did tonight.
