July 7, 2013 - I had very low expections for this wine, Sunday night quaffer with grilled shrimp. Well, this was a surprise. I put on my "blind tasting hat" just noted what came to me. First thing that hit me was it starts as an acid driven Chardonnay but then transitions with a touch of butter and vanilla. So I kept wanting to place it in the buttery popcorn cali char category but the attack is green apple and prevalent mouth watering acid. Could it be they blended malo and non-malolactic fermented barrels? Maybe so, it sure taste like it. This is a very nice wine and it only cost $10 on sale.
April 28, 2013 - An enjoyable Chardonnay -- especially at this price.
April 3, 2013 - This is hard to beat for 12 bucks! 100% oak barrel fermented, 20% new, with a surprisingly light nose. After seven months in wood I expected a much deeper aroma. The taste doesn't disappoint however. The Carneros grapes set up a terrific underlying structure that allows some nice fruit and spice to layer into the middle. The finish is good, although the mineral comes back with a vengeance. I'd drink this all summer for $12, probably with a bunch of mussels or clams on the grill.
April 2, 2013 - Pale straw yellow color with apple, vanilla, citrus zest, and a bit of toasty oak aromas. On the palate, it's medium-bodied, and approaching off-dry with good acidity. It shows apple, baking spice, mineral, citrus and vanilla flavors. Medium-finish. Nice QPR at $18!
March 13, 2013 - A surprisingly nicely balanced Chardonnay for the price.
