January 10, 2017 - Burg Dinner with Friends (Formento's - Chicago IL): Black and red fruit with lots of earth and barnyard notes. Elegantly styled with great textures and balance. Moderate weight and length. Drinking well now, but certainly able to hold for another half-decade or more.

February 15, 2015 - A trio of Rousseaus. Surprisingly light in colour, with quite abit of browning, a little advanced perhaps. The nose was deep and intense, with violets, strawberry cream, plums and forest floor, with lots of acidity and minerals. Palate was simply too acidic, this wine lacked the balance and elegance. There was some underlying fruits like cherries, plums and prunes, but they seemed to really be overwhelmed by the acidity. Finish was slightly hot and short, lacking abit of energy and precision for a Rousseau GC. Looking at it objectively, away from comparison with the other 2 show stoppers, this really still failed to impress.

June 7, 2014 - Clear, brick red. Clean nose, cherry and red fruits with a lot of secondary development - mushrooms, earth, hint of violet and liquorice. Full palate, really coats the mouth, all the flavours above come through nicely. Beautiful, fully mature Burgundy, not sure I'd keep it more than another year or so.

March 5, 2014 - Very fragrant - a nice strong punch of Burgundy funk with a layer of stoniness and briar, not all that different from the '97 CSJ in fact but more powerful. The palate is firm, stony, and meaty, almost Corton-like in its sense of solidity. Keeps tightening and firming up with air but not in a way that shuts the wine down.

February 13, 2014 - Wine of the eve - splendid purity, this is very suave. Super concentration at the core, sweet Pinot fruit, and a great balance.
Sumptuous on the finish, too.
