March 6, 2020 - La Paulée - Friday Night Dinner (Ai Fiori +): Late night pop n' pour. Recall this is having a serious nose with spice and meat filled black cherry aromas. Juicy and sappy on the palate. Ready and fully approachable now.

February 13, 2020 - A great bottle of this wine. Much improved over one consumed in 2017. This still had plenty of beautiful complex fruit but starting to show secondary notes of mushrooms, forest floor and moss. Captivating on both the nose and palate. My favorite from a flight of top rated 01 premier crus including Vogue Amoureuses, Meo Camuzet, Vosne Brulees and even the Leroy NSG Boudots from the same year. Reinforced my already strong belief in Rousseau burgundy.

February 7, 2020 - Wines for the Acker Merrall Bicentennial Auction (The Pool - New York NY): Small glass, brief note. Black fruit and braised meat with plenty of earth. Less fresh or intense vs the best bottles.

November 13, 2019 - Clos St Jacques Dinner (Gunther's, Purivs Street, Singapore): I have had this numerous times down the years, and it has never failed to wow me. This had a lovely nose. Sweet, perfumed, even floral, with red cherries and raspberries draped with a garland of roses and violets, a bit of earth, iron and spice. Lovely stuff. It was delicious on the palate too. Juicy and energetic, with orange acidity and velvety tannins wrapped around a beautiful pure core of red cherry. Lots of quiet intensity here. This just coated the mouth with flavour, yet remained so light and lovely in spite of its depth. I loved the finish too, with the sweet red fruit being met with a gently savoury counterpoint of earth and mineral and spice, and just the lingering kiss of sweet oak and citrus acidity. There was something a bit Rioja-like about that. I just loved this though. It closed down a bit after an hour opened, but when it was first poured - wow.

September 24, 2019 - From mag, this is a huge winner - red cherry, Gevrey fur, loads and loads of minerality, smoke, a little sous bois. Polished with layers and layers. This is fantastic.

(Rousseau Armand Gevrey-Chambertin Clos St.Jacques) Again medium colour. The nose whilst subdued is more interesting than the previous 'Ruchottes'. Lovely in the mouth - great fruit. Mouth-watering acidity and good tannin. Excellent.

(Armand Rousseau Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru "Clos St. Jacques") Crazy nose. So much going one. Palate is even better. Very intense and structured with lots of fruit, spice and earth. This is structured for the long haul. The finish does not end. The inner mouth perfume is unbelievably compelling. This has Grand Cru grip. This is the polar-opposite of Meo-Camuzet. The color is very light almost like Truchot. This is great.
