February 19, 2024 - Tasted at a dinner on Disney Cruise.

Rich red cherries (not jammy though), smoke, and spice. Big, concentrated, and intense (but not too heavy). The tanin is grippy, but polished.

    Highly recommended.

December 3, 2023 - 95% Cab with 5% Petit Verdot. Only 20% new oak. Dinner with AK, ET and welcome home.. again, TC!

Yes it comes across as being quite balanced, but somehow I felt that it comes across as being a wine with little signature or uniqueness. Just not that memorable!

Acidity medium, tannins unresolved, with sour cherry notes. Somehow either this wine is past its drinking window... or its in a sleepy phase now, I honestly can't quite tell.

Restrained, not showing itself last night, and frankly.. quite dissapointing. At USD 120, I really expected more of Moueix and this being a Dominus second wine!

June 19, 2023 - My first Napanook, and glad I found one with some age from Wine Portal Singapore.

This Dominus "second", is a Bordeaux blend of 95% Cab with 5% PV. No Merlot? In top Napa vintages such as 2012-13, the selection process is described as being so severe that it helps bring out wonderful seconds such as this Napanook!

Still tight, I plan to try the next in 2026 and 2028. Red cherry nose was still nuanced, I didn't have a decanter that evening in the restaurant.

Ripe cherries and rich blackcurrant palate, with fresh tobacco too. This has so much promise, I just have to be more patient.

2012 was a perfect Californian growing season, and the warm homogeneous summer temperatures created perfect grape ripening conditions.

This translated to rich and firm tannins, as well as a medium-long length minty sage finish. This is good today, great tomorrow I reckon!

First time meet-up with the fun and warm Vivino Singapore gang.. VG, JG, Wai and Mrs Wai, Mike T as well as Chris Q!

December 25, 2022 - Christmas dinner with friends. Cellared well. Garnet color. Earthy nose with dark fruit and mushrooms. Pallet was muted with some berries and a touch of jam. Medium finish with tannins holding still. May have missed the peak so drink now. Would by again .

December 10, 2022 - Ten Years On - 2012 Cabernet Sauvignons (Canoehead Central): Fantastic on the eyes - opaque dark garnet, black core with a touch of crimson on the rim. Pronounced savoury complex nose. Saturate dark red fruits with vanilla spice, tobacco and cocoa powder. This was unctuous on the palate – full-bodied, massive ripe red fruit core with liquorice and mocha. Some evoked blasphemous terms. A bit grippy still but it would pair well with quality protein and a bit of fat. Won the bronze but great effort.

November 6, 2022 - Lunch at Home (Fremont, CA): Red spice, blackberry fruit, great complexity and balance at this level, youthful, integrated tannins and medium-plus alcohol; medium-plus finish. Excellent value. 92
