August 4, 2023 - Still showing very youthful. Lemon, mineral and saline notes on the nose. Light, elegant and vibrant on the palate with a good amount of acidity. On the first night I easily could have mistaken this for a high-quality Chablis if served blind. On the second day it showed a little rounder, with some peach and mango notes. My last of the '12s, unfortunately.
August 27, 2022 - 4th Saturday Brown Bagger (EBCC): Served double blind to the group. Pale color belies its age. Opens with a youthful toasty barrel note, followed by orchard fruit, honeysuckle and spice. Full-bodied with an abundance of orchard fruit. A lovely example of this wine.
March 12, 2022 - Still a very lively wine with a good balance between fruit, acidity and oak.
A very good wine for the price point.
February 5, 2022 - Still tasting fresh and delicious.
December 31, 2021 - Classic! Sorry to see it go.
December 5, 2021 - Epic Napa Trip - Day 1: Tasted at Chateau Montelena - This was my favorite Chardonnay at the winery....rich, buttery, rounded and fruit and oak well integrated. Not sure if it is the age or the vintage, but this was drinking best, and likely peaking. I would drink these sooner than later, and feel they have rewarded those who have been patient! 93+ and should hold here for another year or so.
December 5, 2021 - Napa trip day 1: Drank a small glass over 1 hour at the winery. It's interesting that I found this bottle very buttery, whereas previous bottles had been steely and chablis-like.
November 26, 2021 - Excellent!
November 12, 2021 - Still during incredible.
