March 17, 2024 - Good wine from a so-so vintage, showing pretty fruit, lovely texture, lots of ballpoint ink, a hint of cocoa, and some unfortunately excessive (vintage derived, I suspect) bitterness in the tannins. Nothing tertiary evident. Wish OM wines were easier to get in the US. Do they still exist?

October 16, 2019 - Three years later and my TN holds strong. This is rating high on the “funkiness” spectrum so consumer beware: this is not a crowd pleaser. But, If you want classic chinon with age, character, terroir ... this is a beauty.

September 26, 2018 - As I remembered it from a year ago. Very funky nose. A nice wine -- blackberry and cedar. Balanced.

January 29, 2018 - Black cherry, hints of cedar and spice, excellent harmony of flavors. Very nice both with food and alone.

January 26, 2018 - A bit sour, too much acidity without fruit to balance. Also a bit musty. Maybe it's too young, but I think it might just be mediocre.

November 27, 2017 - Super-funky on opening. But it mellows quickly. Nice.

October 14, 2017 - Very nice. Blanced with silky tannins, dark fruit and a nice earthiness.

August 22, 2016 - As others have mentioned, this has some serious funk on open that wasn't all that pleasant (and I like funk!). However, on day 2 this totally mellowed, in a good way, and was dangerously easy to drink on day 2. One more to go...

August 5, 2016 - Didn't take detailed notes, but this is great Chinon. Doesn't recall any of the Baudry wines to me all that much, despite the proximity of the site; but it easily stands on its own merits.
