November 5, 2023 - This was so mute on opening and horribly unbalanced that I thought it was a defective bottle. It smelt of nothing more than dust and seemed to lack tannins with vicious acidity and overbearing alcohol burn. It needed a good three hours in the decanter before it opened up - liquorice, herbs, some mint, subdued fruit, leather on the nose. Seems balanced in the mouth initially but falls apart a little at the end with the acidity a bit too sharp and some alcohol burn. I was looking forward to this bottle and maybe I was just expecting too much and these notes reflect my disappointment more. In balance, my drinking partner loved it from the off.

February 11, 2023 - This is starting to drink really nicely now. Good balance with the tannins and acidity, as well as a fairly complex aroma of red flowers, spices, licorice and a hint of leather.

September 4, 2022 - For once, Cellartracker has underrated this wine (at 89 points) and Wine searcher has overrated it (at 92 points).

I will start by saying: do not believe the myth that Barolos go on for ever. Shakespeare might, but not Barolos. On the nose, wonderful dark fruit, sweet tobacco, Very fragrant and typical of the Nebbiolo grape variety: hauntingly transient (lack of tannin), dark, brooding, Baudelaire. Palate = yes, this wine is here. No need to keep it any longer. A lovely balance in the mouth of those darker fruit qualities. A very fine wine. But as Daghaug notes below, "men ikke noe ekstraordinært", which I think means "I like this wine, but it is not extraordinary".

December 27, 2021 - From a magnum. A touch of heat and burly tannins on day 1, although a bit better with food. Smoother and much more enjoyable on day 2.

May 21, 2021 - Jord og skogbunn, kanskje litt rose. Helt grei barolo, som har modnet bra, men ikke noe ekstraordinært.
