March 4, 2024 - My last bottle, and only a step down from prior bottles. Similar notes of dark cherry with a bit of spice. Lovely bottle, but certainly on the back nine of its life. If I had any left I would be drinking them sooner than later.
April 16, 2021 - The drink window is definitely a couple more years. Fresh fruit, medium body and finish.
November 21, 2020 - PnP. Pours garnet with minuscule bricking. Aromas of cherry with a touch of cranberry. This is deep and full-bodied. Very smooth. Abundant fruit consisting of black cherry, red cherry and a touch of cranberry. An intriguing layer of spice on the finish. I always hesitate to label spice but I’d say baking spice. I think this has some time left if you still have it in your cellar.
November 12, 2019 - Past its prime
November 26, 2018 - Tart cherries, good fruit, medium body.
March 25, 2018 - Good fruit. Slightly out of balance, needs less alcohol and more acidity.
January 5, 2018 - So smooth and just delicious. Drank over 2 days seemed even more robust and balanced on Day 2
November 30, 2017 - I liked this the first time I drank it in January 2015, and still like this wine. Thanksgiving. Great nose. Dark color. Delicious. No other notes to speak of.
June 2, 2017 - Wonderful. Deep nose of cherry. Rich flavors.
April 16, 2017 - I popped and poured for Easter and thought I had a battle bottle. Funky, an off putting medicinal note, and even a touch hot convinced me it may have been corked. Glad I put it aside waited until the next day to try again. It just needed some time, which one expects sometimes from a Burgundy but not California. So decant before condemnation.
Earthy red fruit, sweet but not cloying, this is an excellent New World PN. I think Sojourn does a good job balancing abundant California fruit without crossing the line into over extraction. And I generally don't expect or want dark purple fruits in a PN. If you want that, there are other good options. 14.2% abv.
