September 21, 2020 - Large scaled wine. Double decanted then drank after about four hours in the open bottle. Very elegant and expressive. A bit of French oak and cedar flavors. Big grippy tannins. Massive cherry and plummy fruit, but not at all dense or over extracted with a lively acid structure. Great balance. Evolving in the glass and smoothing out a bit with the fruit coming to fore. This has a long life ahead. The best Brunello I've ever tasted.
April 20, 2020 - Ridiculously smooth and velvety mouthfeel with tannic structure but only to support the wine and not overpower it. Beautiful cherry and red fruit with just a touch of Italian dirt on the nose. Light maroon-ish brick colored in the glass with a translucent edge. What an amazing wine and totally deserving of very point from Robert Parker. My only complaint is not being able to buy more when this was released. 99 points if you drink it now but you'll be rewarded with a full 100 if you wait a few more years.
May 31, 2019 - Beautiful Brunello from a very small producer - Parker gave it 100/100: I had to taste it. Clear, medium garnet. Nose is mellow with a refreshing sharpness - some black cherry, menthol, and violet at first - then leather, tobacco, cocoa, perfume. Palate: vibrant acidity - a blend of lemon zest and forest fruits, perfectly integrated tannins. A beauty!
April 3, 2018 - Not one of my favorites
January 16, 2017 - This is a blockbuster waiting to be released. Very concentrated and dark now with clear indication that there is complexity and elegance in the not so soon future. It will develop beautifully over the coming years and can be drunk now although my recommendation is to wait. The normal Brunello gives more right now but will be overtaken by express speed by this exceptional wine.
The rating will probably be more generous with time.
November 1, 2016 - Tasted at Matter of Taste...
WOW! This is a massive, viscous wine of enourmous concentration. Velvety tannnins which coat you palate in a pleasant way. The finish lingers on and on...for minutes.
This is truly a one of a kind Brunello. Probably the best young Brunello I have ever tasted. This will have a very long life ahead of it. I preferred this over the Madonna delle Grazie. Most at the tasting agreed that this was clearly the wine of the night.
This will have a very long life ahead of it, but with some air, I think it will become approachable sooner than later, due to the balance of the fine, elegant tannin structure.
October 25, 2016 - Brunello di Montalcino 2010 - 30 top names of the vintage (Singapore): During a matter of taste event, Brunello Masterclass by Monica Larner. This is a Parker 100 Pointer, so I was interested what was coming... Dark garnet. Nose of dark fruit, rich and ripe already in the nose, rhum pot, chocolate, oak. Ripe and round on the palate too, good acidity and enough structure, gingerbread on the finish. Very well made with a nice front to back feel. Medium-high complexity, low typicity. A person of the trade sitting next to me said that they probably put some Merlot into this "by accident". Honi soit qui mal y pense... Jokes aside, a very modern interpretation of a Brunello. I clearly prefer the Marroneto Madonna delle Grazie side by side.
October 22, 2016 - A Brunello day (Singapore): Brunello master class. Just as I was getting mentally ready to be satisfied with the consistently high quality of the wines at this tasting but without any particular wine really standing out, this came along and it was truly wow. Slightly sweeter than the Brunellos from the other producers, this came with bright but layered fruit, herbs and earth and great length. Clearly the best wine of the tasting in my eyes and probably the best Brunello I have ever had. Wow!
October 21, 2016 - Matter of taste tasting. Dark inky red color with moderate strong aroma. Subtle first taste but long explosive finish with all sorts of tastes - red cherries, strawberries, currants. Lingers softly- lovely
April 25, 2016 - This is the reserva wine of an estate I love the style of (very hedonistic rich mid and back-end palate). This has similar treatment but shows more wood tannins... Indeed they are using larger casks in each vintage to presumably reduce this. More concentrated than the regular bottling, although currently tighter is shows more of everything (balanced in a modern style, and turned up to 11!). Already showing plenty of complexity - with plenty of strawberry, rosemarry and spices. Really enjoyed this already but needs some time to develop a better mid-palate. 98+pts
