Eric Guido Likes this wine: 94 points
March 6, 2018 - The nose was dark and intense, gaining more depth as it sat in the glass, showing herbal-infused black cherry, dried roses, dark earthy minerals, leather, and balsamic spice. On the palate, I found silky, energetic textures as ripe dark red fruits washed across the senses along with sweet spice, exotic herbs and dark inner floral tones. Fine tannins came on late, through the long finish, as the Arione flexed it’s structural muscle, resonating on dried red fruits and inner florals.
Day two: The Arione gained further richness on the nose, with notes of plum, menthol, dark florals, and crushed stone. The palate remained youthful and fresh, with ripe dark fruits prevailing, followed by cinnamon, inner rose, leather and balsamic tones. The finish was long, showing more fresh cherry than the night prior with minerals and grippy tannin lingering for well over a minute.
