    June 17, 2018 - The cork was well soaked and it crumbled (as usual for this vintage) but the wine was undamaged. Clear, relatively pale red hue with a little browning. Fine nose with spicy fruit and vanilla. Decanted and left for an hour before tasting.
    The palate was full of sweet Maraschino cherry and gentle spice (my wife got strawberries at first). Early on, there was a soft, slightly 'woody' middle/end character that I haven't tasted before. Not as complex as I remembered from previous bottles but satisfying and very long. After another 4 hours, the spice and Maraschino fruit remained with good mouthfeel and length. Very good but it didn't reach the heights of earlier bottles. Bottle variation? Age?

    April 16, 2017 - This was a particularly good one. '93 was a great Musar year. This has lots of leather, fruit (dark blue) and earth. Had it over two nights and it was great on both nights. I love this stuff. And, touch wood, I've not has a duff bottle yet - which others have complained about.

    (Chateau Musar) Tasted at home. Caution here; purchased unseen at auction, very clean labels, this is one of two bottles showing signs of seepage and slightly low fill. Good colour for Musar; pale but no browning. Classic nose; meaty, leather, cinnamon and cloves, roasted fruit, some volatility. No signs of oxidation. Lovely weight on the palate, with roasted meat flavour. A little coarsely put together, but certainly no significant damage. Nice freshness despite the rich, slightly oily feel. Firm finish, full of flavour. Will go another decade in the cellar, with certainty.

    (Chateau Musar) Paler than the other wines here. A classic nose, definitely Musar, with roasted-stewed-burnt fruit, cloves, and a lovely, sweet, rounded edge. On the palate there is a full, sweet, rounded mouthfeel, with a polyphenol influenced character, but it has the fruit and structure to carry this. Still has some grip - a trace of tannin still remains - and there is plenty of acidity.

    (Chateau Musar) Just the faintest hint of tawny to this vibrant red-purple wine. On the nose, a medley of cloves and cinnamon spices, black pepper, black fruit, leather, oak and an acetone-like whiff of volatile acidity. The palate is delicately textured, with creamy black fruit and well integrated oak. Medium bodied, soft tannins and balancing acidity. Spicy notes pervade the palate through to the finish. Nice length.
