April 16, 2024 - My first 2013 Bordeaux. My guess is they are not all typically this good. Quite a lot of tannin but it is really fine and gives the wine a wonderful structure without being overdone or drying the mouth too much. The lower alcohol (13.5%) brings freshness and seems to tame some of Trotanoy’s usual power, or perhaps that’s just the vintage growing conditions.
On the palate there is blue fruit and cassis. The finish goes on and on. To my mind this is better than the 2011 Trotanoy bottles I have opened (and they are quite a bit more expensive).
It doesn’t reach the dizzying heights of better years (15 is immense, 16 too) but it’s great stuff indeed and a fraction of the price (I paid 525/6 - 2016 is about 1500/6) -

November 23, 2022 - The 2013 has a lot more concentration and tension than I expected.
On day one I had a small glass, that I let breathe for about an hour as the tannins where quite tightly knit. As the wine opened up it revealed a layered texture full of ripe fruit and spices. Everything so composed and coherent.
On day two we gave it an hour in the decanter. The wine became softened, feminine and very elegant. Good fruit, nice acidity and thinly woven tannins.
Easily the best 2013 BDX I've had, and it still has years ahead of it. -

November 22, 2022 - small sample at a trade tasting about 20 minutes after opening
good bright red color, plum, mulberries, pine and vanilla on the nose, on the palate a cliff with strong notes of truffle and bramble hovering over an open knit red fruit, earth infused, firm bramble, good finish of moderate length, over time the mid-palate intensifies nicely showing better ripeness, a solid Trotanoy and a very characterful one.

January 1, 2022 - Purplish-plum in color, the nose was predominantly vanilla (which kind of surprised me) and right after pouring, tannins predominated with blueberries a secondary flavor followed by a long finish. After a 1.5 hour decant a classic Pomerol profile emerges. Good tannins, smooth, well integrated with reluctant fruit and nearly invisible acid. It's elegant and well built but I would have liked just a bit more structure. It continued to open up until we finished the bottle at the 2.5 hour mark -- possibly it needed a longer decant to show its true colors?

September 19, 2021 - Short decant. Deep purple Color. A lot mint and eucalyptus on the nose, vanilla, chocolate, white pepper, and raspberries. Med acidity, Med body, Med alcohol, Med tannins, Med flavor intensity and Med finish. Quite chewy, a lot of cacao and chocolate, nice salinity, mint, vanilla, white pepper, I like it. Not a very long finish but a very typical and classy pomerol.
