January 16, 2017 - Still very fresh. The nose has some meat and cherry. The palate is all cherry and meat. It is working along a relatively narrow range but is very Barthod with its undercurrent of cool and rocky things.
February 4, 2009 - Pale/medium garnet, wide pale garnet rim. Nose initially closed, but slowly opening to reveal understated but pure, slightly creamy red cherry fruit, and some notes of earth and iron. Medium bodied in the mouth with moderately intense red cherry fruit and the same hints of earth and slightly bitter iron notes. Not unexpectedly a little lean and ungenerous on the mid-palate in the way Bourgogne often is (and arguably should be) before attractive fresh acidity carries a medium/good length slightly firm finish. Very good, enjoyable Bourgogne.
December 21, 2008 - 12/20/08: Medium-light red colour. Has a lot of red fruit on the nose, with some hints of cedar, wet earth and spice. Flavors are not very pronounced but are fairly pleasant red fruit, earth, spice, and hay. Good but not very complex texture, with soft sikly tannin, but a little too much sour acid so the overall balance is not there. The finishis short, soft tannins and sour acid.
October 28, 2008 - Much more interesting than the previous bottle, or is it just my attentiveness? Sappy sweet red fruit, piney resin, some sweet earth, spice. Sweet fruit on the palate with lifting acidity. Moderate finish. Great bottle of Bourgogne, infinitely drinkable and enjoyable which is the true measure. All things considered, the pleasure to price ratio is excellent!
August 7, 2008 - everyday drinking Burgundy w/ a light finish and a bit on the acidic side. red fruit is fine and little oak is present. Structure is lacking. Not bad for the vintage and price.
April 12, 2008 - Soft and a bit dilute, drinking well / time to drink up. Took a little time to open up to creamy cherry liqueur and earth on the nose. Sweet red fruit on the palate. Short finish. Simple but perfectly drinkable wine.
July 3, 2007 - Very interesting wine. Pale and some aged notes on the nose. When tasted some complexity and secondary flavours. Only flaws acidity slightly high and a bit tart. A burgundy nut would find a lot in this one, particularly at the price.
May 31, 2007 - This is textbook stuff. Deep red fruits, spicy nose ,good length . Essence of young Pinot Noir
April 23, 2007 - Quite pale in colour: bright red with a hint of orange. Dark fruits and licqourice on the nose, with some citric peel and spice notes. Then strawberries, white peaches, cassis and other sweeter fruit. Quite vibrant, but a bit of heaviness/clumsiness at the same time. Still, a very nice drop for the appellation and price level - and an interesting comparator for the 2002.
January 27, 2007 - Less appealing than it was in its early years. Afterwards I was left regretting that it was the 2002 I put in the coq-au-vin. (The small glass I had of that suggested a wine full of charm at the top of its form.)
