September 25, 2018 - Nose of butterscotch and a sweeter gingerbread. Clove and almond as well. Toasted chestnuts mixed with Christmas cookie and butterscotch frosting. Baking spices as well. Delicious effort!! 93-94 points.

February 18, 2018 - The wine is kind of tart. But it does have tropical fruits including pineapple. Just not to our liking.

September 3, 2017 - nose was a bit austere, otherwise I would have scored this much higher. delicious tropical fruits on the palate with some zesty acidity on the finish. would be interesting to see where this goes in 5 years

November 24, 2016 - More Burgundy than CA... but still somewhere in the middle. Balance between fruit and mineral... minimal oak. Definitely more of a connosier style.

May 31, 2016 - Full nose has ripe orchard fruit, white flowers, loads of mineral and citrus zest. Palate has light-to-medium body with tangy, driving acidity. Fresh with salinity and minerals. Some brioche in the finish. A Chablis-like CA chardonnay.

February 27, 2016 - Consumed casually poolside. Big full nose of orchard fruit, lemons and mineral. Expansive and chiseled palate. Good juicy acidity. Long chalky citrusy finish.

October 31, 2015 - The Hanzell vineyard produces some excellent Sonoma Chardonnay. Brought by a friend to a local farm to table restaurant. Was initially served too cold ( sub 54 degrees ) to garner a true perspective. After sitting 20 minutes at room temperature, the wine began to blossom. Nice nose of acacia flower, lemon rind, chamomile, and grapefruit. Good minerality on the palate with little oak influence. Rich taste of lemon peel, crushed ginger, spices, and key lime. Not your typical high strung heavily oaked Napa Chardonnay. Great nuance and mouthfeel. Paired well with a simple pasta dish in EVO and golden squash purée.

March 7, 2015 - Wow, this is one of the most amazing California Chardonnay's I've ever tasted!

A pristine yellow color. Aromas of hay and fresh wild honey. Nice acidity, but a firm, tight mouthfeel that opens up to creaminess as you hold it in the mouth. Medium+ body. There is great purity here as well as richness. The finish really persists a long time, so this is a candidate for moderate aging as well.

I've rarely seen such a sophisticated and confident American Chardonnay. Kudos
