June 2, 2017 - Popped and poured, consumed over 4 hours. Cork crumbled upon opening, bottom quarter pushed into bottle Nose: Medium expressiveness, plums, shoe leather, and tobacco. Palate: Medium bodied, ripe plum and tobacco attack, thins out through the mid-palate, earth and dark fruit dominate back-end - past it's prime. Finish: Medium length finish, dominated by muted dark fruit, subtle spice and earthiness. Drink-up - this isn't getting any better.

December 25, 2015 - This wine still has it and may transition into something great in 5 years. The nose is rummy with dark fruits and dried flowers. In the mouth it's going through an awkward stage where the fruit is really muted and the tannin is really soft. Tobacco is showing more than I've ever remember in this wine. I have 6 bottles left and will drink 1 every 12-18 months how see how this wine progresses.

July 18, 2013 - Not much has changed with 1 year of additional bottle aging. Still very good but definitely on the decline.

October 8, 2012 - This wine has lost some punch but still very enjoyable. Creamy smoky nose. Thin mid palate with plums and ripe cherries and light tannins. Finishes short.

This wine is going down hill. Drink it if you have it.

November 16, 2011 - If you like chocolate covered cherries then this is the wine for you. This is a heavy weight Merlot that easily blows out a lot of CA cabs. You would never guess it's a Merlot on the nose. Lot's of dried cherries, earth, and smoky meat. In the mouth it's loaded with ripe cherries, chocolate, more chocolate, tobacco with chocolate on it. Finishes impressively long.

I was very lucky to pick a few cases of this wine at about $29 per bottle. Not sure I would paid the current asking price for it.

Remember you don't drink the label.
