August 24, 2022 - Arguable the best of the Gaja lineup . Perfectly in balance with the right amount of age

    July 2, 2022 - 6 of 12 so brought this to a Paella Dinner added it to a flight of old Riojas 1952, 1970, 1975, 1981

Similar to prior bottles, this benefits from a few hours in the decanter. In early maturity, red fruited nose, laced with spice and cedar notes. Lovely silky texture, especially in contrast to the rougher older Riojas in the flight, others noted how polished this wine was. Drinking very well

March 2, 2022 - Just coming into prime now. Let it breathe for an hour and it settles down perfectly.

Incredible nose that is very complex.

Brooding flavour profile, tannins have softened allowing the Tar, tobacco, leather, flavours to show with a waft rose petals and bright acidity and freshen up the finish.

December 24, 2021 - 5 of 12 Two hours in a decanter. As with noted with prior bottles this a darker, more savory Barbaresco, it has good fruit, lots of smoke and meaty notes. Balanced with fine tannins and a persistent finish. Went extremely well with roasted wild mushroom crostini. Will be having the 2000 on NYE

August 15, 2021 - A very good wine if I am looking at the definition of good wine in a book. It has a lot the factors like finesse, length, and complexity of good wine but no joy or soul.

This didn't invigorate me as the typicity of Nebbiolo is lost on this wine. It came across to mee too modern in its making. For everything I love in Nebbiolo, I feel the Gaja treatment didn't bring those elements out to the foray.

(Gaja Barbaresco) Tarry nose with roses, cherries, graphite and strawberries. Nice nose kept getting more complex with air. Outstanding length on the palate with some serious oak tannins. Lots of pure neb fruit in the midpalate. Really seamless from beginning to end. Nowhere near ready to drink but fun to taste.
