March 3, 2023 - This wine has matured wonderfully in the cellar at 14 °C. Hints of gravy in the nose. Tannins are getting smoother during day 2 and 3, but finally there is pure elegance and depth. Still fresh, feeling light and animating. Don‘t hesitate to put the open bottle for 1 or 2 days in your wine cellar at 14 °C. In comparison Gattinara Antoniolo San Francesco 2007 is a little bit more biting due to aromas reminiscent of red cherry confiture (at least at day 1), although this wine has also reached its first drinking maturity.

October 24, 2020 - Still tasting smooth and nice with full body. Needed a little time to open up but still some fruit taste - could go another year or two

July 14, 2020 - Bottle over lunch at Valentino. Chef said the 2008 of this is more accessible than the 2007. Good recommendation! Poured into decanter and drank over 1.5 hours.
Appearance is clear, deep intensity, ruby colour. Legs.
Nose is clean, pronounced intensity (didn't even need to stick nose into glass to get the perfume on this), with aromas of initial mushrooms (that strangely decreased with more air), earth, dark florals, dark red cherries, black cherries, stony minerality with more air. Developing.
On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium alcohol (13.5%), cottony high tannins getting increasingly soft elegant with more air, full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of mushrooms (integrating in and almost disappearing with more air), savoury earth, dark red cherries, black cherries, integrated oak. With more air, this wine just seemed to get fresher and more elegant, taking on more aspects of stony minerality, classic sour red cherries, gentle spice. Long savoury finish.
Very good quality. 2 persons easily finished the bottle and we even sort of fought for the last few drops. Really love it how these aged Nebbiolos actually change and are able to actually get fresher with more air.

March 4, 2020 - Fairly rustic. Lacking in fruit and pretty high in acid. good with food but tough on its own

November 20, 2017 - PnP and let sit for five minutes. Color is garnet to ruby red with some orange at the edge. Aromas of violets, tart cherry, petrichor, wet rocks. Wine has light+ to medium legs. On the palate tart cherry, wet rocks, forest floor, some savory herbs, brighter acidity, some tannin leaving a mouth-drying finish. Quite good with a somewhat rich dinner. On its own this has a chiseled, fairly dry feel that leaves one looking for some cheese and crackers to balance it out.

December 29, 2016 - Nice. Cherry cola and spice. Clean palate and unobtrusive grip. Not a lot of personality though. Possibly better in the distant future?
