October 16, 2023 - Appearance: reddish-Brown, rust, thin on the edge. Darker cherry color towards the center.

    Nice nose

On the palette, richness, soft and lite textured tannins. Subtle cherry and dried berries

Excellent wine. Not incredibly complex but beautiful

May 7, 2021 - Matured. Mushroom, forest floor, leaves, not much tannins, acid is restrained. Simple and quick finish. Drink Now, Cannot keep

June 8, 2018 - A wine that is unlike its youth! In the beginning of its life, say when it was 5 years old, it was purely merlot dominated, smooth, very fruity and sweet, now at the age 19, the not so young Cabernet-Sauvignon takes centre stage, slightly high acidity, the nose is somewhat dominated by the cassis-like black fruits, how very interesting to see its evolution! Dark in colour, wonderful nose with a hint of spice, at its prime I guess, it will continue to shine over the next few years! Simple and at the same time very enjoyable! Solidly built

July 12, 2017 - Had this at friends' who have stored it really in excellent conditions. So while it's definitely already over its peak but still agreeably drinking. Dark fruit, especially in the nose still there, of course with lots of typical tertiary notes. Becomes more and more balsamic with time. Very round, mature and smooth on the palate, on the edge but still some residual tension, though admittedly little. Not overwhelming but nice. Maybe we were just lucky with that particular bottle.

March 17, 2017 - My first Pagodes experience. I had high hopes for this. I think my bottle was over the hill in some sense. The nose smelled entirely of stinky cigar, with little to no fruit or anything else for that matter. I liked it to start but when it didn't evolve for hours, I started thinking that the wine was sort of dead. 1999 though generally a weaker year, in my experience produced wines with fruit. So I expected some here but it did not deliver. It's totally drinkable but for the price your better off with a Cru Bourgeois or less Classified Growth.
