November 23, 2019 - Past it’s prime but still an enjoyable drink. No air needed. Pop and pour and enjoy the nostalgia.

My #7, Group's #5 (85 pts). Tasted blind in a flight of Altesino Brunellos from 1988-2001

December 2, 2018 - 1990 was a 5 star Brunello vintage. Pnp and drank over 2h. Perfect bottle, bottom neck fill. Very tight cork (hard to extract) as I only find them sometimes in older Italian wines, clean top, only about bottom 20% soaked. A very clean transparent dark ruby, no signs of browning. More red than dark fruit, some wood spices. Well delineated if not the most aromatic or expressive on the palate. Fine to medium tannins still present. Medium finish. Solid 91.
Very nice Brunello but would not hold any longer as this will (continue to) gradually fade. While I cannot resist to keep trying mature Brunellos from top producers as I find them, very, very few Brunellos should be held longer than 15 years in my eyes.

December 25, 2017 - Garnet, fading to brown around the rim. Floral and mocha nose, with some pleasant barnyard aromas that fade away after decanting. Sour cherry on the palate complimented by bouquet of flowers. Some astringency but very smooth (and sweet!) on the medium-long finish.

November 3, 2017 - Gary's Intro Retro -- Italia!: Served double blind. Stepping it up here. A full interesting nose with aromatic depth -- sour cherry, herbs, florals and spice. The palate has loads of sour cherry, but there is a sweeter profile here. Good cut and energy throughout, with nice spice accents too. My #3, group's #3.
