    February 18, 2016 - Caçula da noite, um Roble em seu vermelho alegre e vivaz. Muito floral, algo mineral e repleto de cerejas frescas recém tiradas do pé, que se confirmavam em boca. Médio corpo, nada complexo, persistência decente e bom ganho com o delicioso Pimiento con Bacalao.

    August 17, 2015 - Monday night Blinds at Nopa—Take 6 with TH (Nopa SF): Blind 2: Red

    VISUAL:
    Clear, bright.
    Medium plus ruby-purple with a violet rim.
    Moderate tears.

    NOSE:
    Low intensity nose with light brett (animal fur / 4-EP), some ripe red cherry, slight turned earth.

    PALATE:
    Medium plus body, medium plus alcohol ~13.5% (correct)
    Medium plus chewy tannins, elevated acidity.
    Slight oak (partial new oak) presenting as baking spices. [According to the producer’s notes, this spent 5 months in new French oak]

    CONCLUSIONS:
    Old world wine from a moderate climate.
    Possibly:
    -Northern Rhone (no black pepper, no dark fruit)
    -Chianti Classico (oak seems atypical, fruit character doesn’t fit)
    Final call (I knew this was bad given the oak, and aromatics: 2013 St. Joseph)

    Actually:
    Ribera del duero! I just wasn’t expecting something like this from Tempranillo. So extracted, so dark, and with so little oak.

    2013 Pago de los Capellanes Roble—Ribera del Duero
    5 months in new French oak.

    This seems well made, but I’m not the biggest fan of it’s integration - it seemed a bit disjointed.

    June 6, 2015 - A private lunch (Restaurant Librije's Zusje **, Amsterdam, NL): Youthful, vibrant, fresh and juicy cherry fruit, lactic, creamy, hint of spice, mineral and fresh, bright acidity, nice balance, ripe bitters from the skins; good length.

    January 18, 2015 - Ok and no obvious flaws, but just kind of boring. Nothing interesting going on at all. Everything toned down too much. This was my second bottle. Last one was popped and poured, this one decanted one hour. Will not buy again.

    July 18, 2014 - Restaurant purchase, was served too cold and it took a while to warm to acceptable temp. Still it did not develop much in terms of aromas, which was quite a surprise to me considering my past tastings of this wine. Berries, medium body, smooth drinking. Definitely not complex, not a memorable wine, but still fair if priced correctly.
