April 5, 2019 - wonderful mid weight pinot noir ready to go. Spectacular now with lovely fruit forward and just the right grip to follow.
July 6, 2017 - Bigger than some other Big Basin's we've had. Darker fruit, fairly well balanced but felt like the alcohol was peaking through a bit. Better with a little air.
August 7, 2016 - You've got to enjoy "BIG" to appreciate this dark fruited cracked pepper sipper. Still plenty of cellar time for those with patience.
April 26, 2016 - On the pop & pour, initial nose of tart strawberry, black raspberry, dough, and cinnamon. Palate starts out with pungent black cherry and herbs. The pungency settles down and the greenish herbal element subsides after just a few minutes. The dough on the nose fades quickly also. All in all, a nice bottle but nothing spectacular. Will revise tomorrow if it opens up like so many notes mention here.
April 25, 2016 - Killer wine with naturally ripe yet balanced fruit. Ageworthy
Good acidity
April 7, 2016 - A somewhat more fruit forward style that really opened on the second night.
August 24, 2015 - Good fruit. Good, but not all that subtle oak. Some nice spice from the whole clusters. Enjoyable acidity and tannins. Could last, but very tasty right now.
March 12, 2015 - A bright, layered, and balanced pinot. Pronounced fragrances of cherry, flowers, and spice. Medium in body, dark red in color. Tastes of blackberry, herb, sour cherry, and cedar. 14% alcohol. A lingering, somewhat grainy, finish (perhaps due to the 20% whole clusters). A down-the-middle New World pinot - the fruit is more restrained than a 2009 Alfaro I remember trying, but it strikes a nice balance between ripeness and acidity. Well worth a try!
February 12, 2015 - Beautiful floral aromatics. Energetic red fruit on the palate. Extremely enjoyable!
January 17, 2015 - Aroma: Leather, hints of black cherry, graphite.
Palate: Tart cherry, vanilla, pomegranate, wood spice. Slight minerality. Medium finish. Gains weight and mellows with time in glass.
