July 12, 2019 - Tasty wine. Notes of red and dark fruits, tar, tannins and strawberry fruit. A great pairing with the buffalo steaks (rib eye and strip steak).

November 30, 2016 - Dark, meaty, savory. Smooth feel. Violets, tobacco, mushroom, a bit of dark acid. Fully resolved, drinking well, wouldn't hold this long term, but no rush in the short term. Very good stuff.

July 29, 2016 - Quite good. But I'm firmly convinced that this is a "drink now, don't wait," wine.

May 16, 2016 - See my 4/6/16 notes. Quite consistent, AND, I would reiterate that this should probably be drunk in the next 1-2 years. This a "pretty" wine that sips well, and is very friendly with a lot of different types of foods.

April 6, 2016 - I clearly like this wine a bit better than many in the CT community. Upon opening and pouring, you see a deep red, with a pure color. Bouquet is on the softer side of the big smell you can sometimes get from a syrah. On taste: there is an elegance to this wine that is often not found in a syrah. More red fruit, with brightness and acidity. Tannins are there, but after 5 plus years, they are in proper order and are only bracing, not interfering with, the taste. I have to say that this is an almost remarkably versatile wine. Enjoyed drinking by itself, went well with a southwest themed salad (with some nicely smoked chicken), and then the next day went really well with chilled shrimp and a sweeter cocktail sauce. I bet I could have had this with some seared Chilean sea bass. Really good! The one cautionary comment I would make is that I question how much more cellar time this wine can take. It's in a good place right now, but I could potentially see pulling a bottle out in 12-18 months and finding a different, flattening wine. On the other hand, I could be completely off the mark. I just don't know for sure. No one does, and that's part of the fun of wines.
