  January 9, 2023 - Blind. Deep ruby, still quite dense but clearly with some evolution. Blackcurrant and graphite nose. Similar on attack with an initially firm structure that pushes me to ‘95. Finely grippy. Apparently not 95, so probably 03. Lovely surprise when revealed — nothing drying here, the fruit and structure are balanced and it seems to be ageing well. It’s helped by a raw steak but regardless it’s a good wine, and not the alcoholic monster some recent vintages seem to be. There’s a little more wine and more energy here than the 02 Lynch B alongside. ****

  December 25, 2022 - Decanted for 1.5 hours. Nose of blackberry, black cherry, currant, graphite, forest floor and leather. Red and black fruit, anise, graphite and forest floor on the palate. Very long, soft, dry finish. Medium to full bodied. Served with roast beef and a persillade sauce.

  Garnet color, showing some age. Nose showing dark fruit, menthol and graphite. Palate showing blackcurrant, cherry, earth notes, pencil. Very rich through the mid palate, silky and luxurious. Medium/full body, long finish.
  
  In a great spot right now. Warm vintage turned to the advantage of delivering a full body and depth throughout. It will doubtless go for another decade plus. That said, really worth opening this now, especially if you have more than one

  December 1, 2022 - Decant for 30 min up to 60min in a tight decanter … 2003 Californian power fade during the last 2 years, now much more elegant.

  October 30, 2022 - Coming from a magnum, prisitine shape. Color has some age to it with a burnt umber rim constasted by a deep and dark core. Fresh fragrant nose. Smells very much like Pichon Lalande, with various fruits and cool menthol.
  
  On the palate more of the same. Still fresh and vibrant. This wine in 2003 has always been soft and sexy, yet one of the more lively wines of the very warm vintage. This wine is prime now. Pretty direct, but has some subtle and delcate naunces.
  
  While this claret will hold for years to come, it's in a nice stage right now to drink up, Poured in a decanter and really developed its first hour, however it did not go anywhere after hour 2-3+ and was rather at its best within the first 2 hours out of the bottle.
  A nice uber prime wine to open now.
  
  A great testament and release from this label during a hot vintage.
