September 7, 2020 - Very good merlot dominated wine. The merlot and can integrate to form a seamless , tasty blend.
November 1, 2018 - A bit of time was very good for this wine. Super enjoyable.
December 31, 2016 - NYE 16/17. Still excellent Bordeaux blend. Wife and I both put this a bit ahead of a 2014 Myriad cab. Probably a 92 today but as I've rated twice already I'll not officially rate. Plum initially on the nose and then some coffee notes develop. Darker fruit palate, some chocolate, smooth.
July 27, 2016 - Superb nose on this with the body and finesse to back it up. Feminine, lavender scented. Lovely.
July 15, 2016 - Very surprising and delicious. First time ever and this stood up to other very well known wines.
March 28, 2016 - 6 hour slow ox. Drank over 3 hours. Enjoyed on the patio while watching my Sooners earn a berth in the Final Four. Very consistent with prior notes - could drink this wine all day. Red profile, but some purple too. Dark purple in glass. Lavender. Smooth tannins. Medium + weight and finish. Finish was just a tick astringent.
Also had a 2012 cab from Coliseum Block open -- and it was better, both before and after. Just a darker fruit profile, more depth and a much better finish. The blend was lovely during the game, but the straight cab was the ticket with dinner.
February 13, 2016 - Well balanced and a joy to drink.
November 7, 2015 - Chose this guy to pop in honor of all the wine that got dropped off this week. Decanted 1 hour. Really came into its own after another 30-60 minutes in the decanter.
Clarity of fruit here is pretty amazing. Dark red profile. Not even a trace of oak. Really a focused wine. Medium + finish that was very smooth. Could drink this all day.
April 26, 2015 - Good to see this was as good or better than I remembered from the tasting. Dark chocolate and currant palate. Big but in control and quite smooth. A fun wine that doesn't take itself too seriously. Had to fight my wife for the last glass.
March 6, 2015 - A rich, concentrated merlot-based blend. Nose of chocolate and spice; dark ruby in color; very thick in body (clings to glass like buttermilk). Tastes of mocha, plum, black cherry, and cedar. A lingering finish that carries hints of pine, orange peel, and vanilla, along with a little chalkiness and tannin. 14.9% alcohol. To be sure, the fruit is dense and extracted; while others may (reasonably) disagree, though, I think Carter usually walks up to the line of over-ripeness, but does not cross it.
