February 9, 2024 - Like rieslingdan, this bottle had a secondary cork of tartaric acid. An initial attack of sweet tropical fruit and pineapple yields to a more lean citrus and lime peel. Excellent acidity, long finish. Really yummy.

March 28, 2022 - Medium gold. Pronounced aromas of stone fruit, honey, citrus blossom, and rain water. Off dry on the palate with a round mouth feel, pronounced stone and lemon fruit supported by a strong acid frame, fresh and rich at the same time, medium+ body, very long finish. 7.5% alcohol. Quite delicious and well balanced.

January 17, 2022 - Seven years since my prior bottle of this, and the wine was full of surprises. Stored on its side in my 53 degree F cellar since release, the bottle had developed a secondary seal of tartrate crystals. When I took out the cork, and tried to pour, nothing came out! It took two whacks with a wooden spoon handle to break through the layer of tartrate crystals. Once I got some wine out of the bottle it had more surprises. The electric acidity was expected. The grapefruit and underripe mango aromas were not. The squirt of lime on the palate was expected. The richness, almost roundness of the palate impression was not. It wasn’t fat or flabby, as the acidity rippled across the surface. The overall impression reminded me a lot of the young 1996 Rieslings, which had a juxtaposition of palate richness and teeth rattling acidity. This is a thought provoking bottle, as it steps outside normal expectations. I have two more, and will check in again after another seven years.

November 14, 2018 - Wafting aromas of creosote bush, preserved lemon, acacia flowers, and peach. Full on the palate with liquid golden sweet fruit, rich mellow lift at the back into a lovely acid train. Voluptuous and racy. Excellent with mapo doufu. 50 + 17 + 18 + 9 = 94.

March 31, 2015 - This is classical Saar Riesling that has a distinct aroma and flavor of green apples and a finish that is like licking cold, wet steel. Riveting stuff.
