  August 31, 2017 - A private tasting (at home): After all this Pomerol and Port, JD felt like white Burgundy again and this time he asked if there was any Bâtard around. So what do you do? Full yellow colour, deep and mature but lively; remarkably fresh and pure (this wine is 34 years old!), slightly lactic, hint of honey, fresh and oaky, tart lemon, has lost most of its fruity stuffing, resinous finish, very good length. Perfectly intact on the second day, no rush. And still going strong on day four. Oh, the miracle that is called sulphur!

  July 4, 2014 - First bottle from a four-bottle lot; by some margin the deepest colour of the four. Pristine appearance, firm cork, ullage <1cm. Colour like a mature Sauternes; the nose displays a nutty evolved note, a hint of candied fruit, smoke, a certain saline, mineral freshness and even a whiff of flowers, opens up nicely; the palate is slender but intense, mineral and fresh, with subtle citrus fruit and salted butter; very good length, slightly tired on the finish. At 31 years of age this is a very impressive wine, not unlike an old Champagne, evolved but fresh. Holds up well over 8+ hours. I have very good hope for the remaining three bottles!
