Community Tasting Notes 12

November 16, 2023 - Very dark. Black fruit, pencil lead, red cedar nose. Red to black fruit, flowery, lead pencil again, good concentration. Not tannic until the very end, shortish finish. Low on acid. It's really good today but it's probably in the twilight of its life.

July 3, 2017 - overall quite weak and lacks character. Decanted for several hours but didnt show much improvement after the first couple of hours.

December 12, 2016 - terrific... IMO, years of life left in this bottle. Never was a fruit bomb, but there is still plenty to keep this interesting. Thumbs up

August 23, 2015 - This was particularly good, so I felt compelled to leave a tasting note. Medium-plus intensity garnet color. Deep intensity aroma of black fruits, tobacco, spice box, well-integrated old-world oak. The palate matches the nose. Low acidity; soft, well-integrated tannins; medium-plus intensity on the palate; medium-plus length. This all comes together beautifully, and it's an outstanding representation of the varieties and region. It's also drinking perfectly now. We drank it with Morrocan lamb stew--a difficult pairing--and it could not have worked better.
