March 1, 2024 - I buy all the top producers from Russian River and in my opinion, the Rochioli Three Corner is the most classic, quintessential expression of pinot noir from this tiny corner of the world. It always comes off as balanced, vibrant, composed - nothing over the top and just the right amount of energy, acid, femininity, elegance. From vintage to vintage, sometimes less power and richness than some other Rochioli SVD's but always tastes consistent and classic. Rest in peace, Joe Rochioli.
December 17, 2023 - Ruby color. Black raspberries, floral and minerals in the nose. Black cherries, black currants, plums and hints of licorice in the flavor. Full bodied, very well balanced, nice acidity and a long finish. Delicious.
February 12, 2023 - PnP. Medium deep red. Knock out nose of ripe boysenberry, blackberry. Smooth on the palate with lovely flavors and little in the way of residual tannins on the finish. Totally different from the previous bottle from 2022 and much superior. Classic Rochoili RRV Pinot - really enjoyable to drink and much more consistent with other tasters notes, leading me to believe the prior bottle was flawed.
January 23, 2023 - Gorgeous wine - opulent, rich, fresh, perfectly balanced.
June 24, 2022 - Absolutely terrific. Nuanced, fully resolved, secondary flavors emerging, great balance and concentration,. Bravo!
June 8, 2022 - PnP. Perfect cork. Medium red. Rather reticent nose of dark berries, spice, and a hint of lavender. On the palate this is rather tight with good thick fruit intensity but still noticeably tannic on the finish. This has been cellared since release at 58 degrees F. Seems dramatically different from what others have described.
This improved significantly on day 2 and showed some of the characteristics others have described so would definitely decant at this point.
April 21, 2022 - Utterly fantastic accompanying Easter supper of ham, roast carrots, orzo salad with fresh herbs and warm rolls. Mature flavor, bold up front with an easy but lingering finish.
January 30, 2022 - PnP. Ruby red, no browning to show its age. Beautiful aromas with floral, raspberry, currant , and spice. Starting to show more complexity with raspberry, spice, currant, smoke, plum and some floral tones. Still mainly primary. Silky smooth. Really good now, no signs of decline.
November 25, 2020 - Stunning. Thanksgiving Holiday and weekend and this was the best of many great wines.
April 25, 2020 - Wine is drinking really well. We’ve stored the bottle nicely and it’s in perfect drinking condition right now. Although not quite as good as the West Block, it’s really enjoyable.
