January 14, 2022 - Decanted for 3+ hours, tanned (shoe) leather in your face out of gate. Black currant and dried mushrooms also coming out on the nose. Maybe some huckleberry. Rather unique nose. The tannins are softening on the pallet but could still go further. I can see this shifting toward an aged Bordeaux in another 5. Already has a bit of the funk. Medium acidity - in fact it didn't show well with a fatty meal. Needs a leaner pairing. Nice gentle but long dark fruit finish.
