August 18, 2023 - Very nice wine and well balanced especially from this era; dark in color and definitely ripe, but the fruit is more restrained than many Napa wines; black cherry, blueberry, along with some earth and tobacco; with air a hint of eucalyptus and the fruit becomes a bit richer; the palate gains in intensity and depth over 3-4 hours and becomes better and better; a wine I enjoyed and a style I would buy
June 4, 2023 - Slightly cloudy very dark garnet color. Mulberries, plums, significant alcohol, and sweet cocoa on the nose. Plums, sweet raspberries, light Indian spices, and a king mixed berry finish.
April 18, 2023 - Really solid wine that’s drinking nicely at this age.
November 21, 2022 - My wine. I thought I'd read someone saying this was a "soft" vintage for Togni and drinking well right now which talked me into grabbing it. Big mistake. Saturated black fruit with interesting notes of celeriac and jasmine that will be better in 2032 than it is right now--a five hour decant hardly put a dent in it.
November 19, 2022 - Served blind; Jenice and Bob's bottle. A big one. I guessed regal, old school Napa Cab. Dark berries, cassis, tobacco, savory spices. Upon reveal, I was thinking it's probably a mistake to open these within 10-20 years of the vintage. More future promise than present day delight.
March 27, 2022 - After a three-hour decant, the wine was all over the place, although it had an excellent, long-lasting finish. Lots of dark fruit, still having a Bordeaux flavor with a mix of sweetness. It has morphed into an underwhelming wine.
February 3, 2022 - Secondary flavors of mint, tea leaf and vanilla very prominent
December 13, 2021 - Lighter Bordeaux style. Nice with oysters and appetizers at Bouchon.
February 23, 2021 - Lovely and balanced. Silky. Touch of green, which is a signature aspect of all the Togni's I've a had. Far from the best Togni I've had, but that speaks to the vintage.
October 16, 2020 - A quality vintage, but I’m high on 12s. They just have the fruit depth, balanced acid, structure and ripened sweetness to be excellent now and over the next 20 years. This gem from Togni is no exception. Although it’s spring mountain fruit, I detect a bit of mint and eucalyptus along with cassis and bay leaf. Tannins are uncoiled and the wine is best with 2 hours of air. Fun to try
