November 3, 2019 - Agree with other notes that this still could have some way to go as the tannins were still moderately in evidence and the acidity at first hid some of the flavor upon opening. With some air and food it was very enjoyable. Going to wait 2+ years on other bottle

July 22, 2019 - From Magnum-Purple rim has now diminished with the wine showing off a deep black color. Shiny surface in the glass with a clear body. Imagine riding a horse, now stay on the horse-not like my experiences as a teenager trying to impress the girls, and getting a whiff of saddle leather. The bouquet subtly shows this aspect without it trailing off as I did when I lost control of the house headed into the woods and fell off-more than once. The nose is also lovely with lilacs, underbrush and a touch of sage.

The palate reflects the nose with the perfect amount of tannin. Flavors coat the tongue without any hole in the middle allowing for a full taste. The wine could still use a couple years of aging but is in a wonderful drinking window. If I had a couple magnums left I would drink one a year form now and the second one a year or so after that. —Dave

March 10, 2019 - One of 4 magnums that I had with my wine group. All were opened, but not decanted, for at least 45 minutes before pouring. We had, in order, the 2015 Xavier Arcane XV Le Diable, 2015 Domaine Cabirau Maury Sec First Things First, 2012 Ramey Syrah Rodgers Creek, and the 2015 Sebastiani Gravel Bed Red.

This was our WOTN. Great nose, long finish.

January 12, 2019 - good showing. Not a lot of evolution in the flavors. Amply tannic on the finish. For my tastes, I'm inclined to leave for a while and see if the flavors develop and the tannins come into better balance.

December 15, 2018 - Short decant. Pretty opaque purple color. Compared to my last bottle the fruit seems to be a little tamed now, unfortunately also the alcohol is sticking out a little bit at this stage. Still very pretty aromatics though with black cherries, cassis, also some red berries, bacon, also some crushed flowers, leather and some tobacco. It's medium-full bodied, has very good freshness on the palate with medium-high acidity and good structure of medium+ but silky and ripe tannin. Also in the mouth there is certain warmth though that is contrasting with the freshness of the acidity. Excellent length. Another good showing of this wine. Curious to see where my remaining bottles are going.
