August 12, 2022 - This is a massive California Cabernet wine! Tannins have subsided and the lush dark ripe fruit comes forward. Long finish and very complex. As the evening went on, the wine evolved showing hints of cedar and tobacco with the fruits. Became a very harmonious wine later. This vintage still has a long way to go so many years of cellaring! Great experience and cant wait to taste this wine again in the future.

August 27, 2019 - Deep, dark and powerful, the wine is equally round, plush and polished. Mouth-filling, sweet, multi-layered and complex, the fruit has a great sense of purity that comes through easily. If you like young Cabs, pop it now, else this will age for decades.

July 11, 2019 - P&Ped and tasted alongside Tusk and Futo of the same vintage. Lots of smoke, ash and pencil shavings provide for strong character. Dark and ripe cassis type of fruit. Faint earth and leather with increasing presence on stage over time in the glass, just perceptible baking spices. Full body with a slighty bitter taste on the palate. Beguiling elegance on the nose but not yet entirely harmonious on the palate. Will probably need another 3-5yrs to enter the ideal drinking window. I had the pleasure to attend the first ever complete Sloan vertical back in 2017 (tasted all vintages 2000 through to 2013) and back then the top 3 were 2010 (99), 2002 (98) and 2013 (97). The 2012 (rated 95 in 2017) seems to have gained in stature and now rivals the 2013 for a spot in the top 3, in my view.

November 10, 2018 - Wine Advocate: Grand Walkabout Tasting (NYC): Majority Cab with 10-15% Merlot. The 2014 is so elegant even at this early stage. Utterly captivating. Chocolate flavors on the palate extend into a long finish. One of the three wines of the tasting for me along with Spottswoode and Dana Estates Lotus. Great company to have. This should drink well with only a few more years of cellaring.

November 2, 2017 - Sloan Vertical 2000-2013 (Zürich): Amazing vertical tasting of all Sloan vintages (2000 to 2013) in Zurich. Consistent high quality over the years. The star component are the tannins - smooth, sweet, melting, the right amount and intensity, not green – very good in almost all vintages. Of course, there is a lot of Napa (fruit) power but never too extracted and/or overripe - not one single wine felt overdone. Winner and wine of the night is the 2007 vintage. Behind the 2007, there are many strong vintages: 2001, 2002, 2004, 2010 and the 2013. A word or two on the tasting notes: informal setting, great night with dear friends, hence short tasting notes.

    Short tasting note: 2012 - 94 or 95?
No detailed notes (looong night) but was drinking quite well.
